Valve has released a new Steam Deck Beta Client update for users in the Preview/Beta channel. This update focuses on HDR enhancements for external displays, brightness preservation in Desktop Mode, and controller fixes.
General Fixes and Enhancements
HDR Improvements for Steam Deck OLED:
HDR is no longer forced active on external displays.
HDR can now be persistently enabled or disabled per display via Display -> Advanced -> Enable HDR.
Desktop Mode Improvements
Improved preservation of display brightness when transitioning to Desktop Mode, ensuring a smoother visual experience when switching between gaming and desktop environments.
Steam Input Fixes and Enhancements
Added Support for New Controllers: The update adds support for Zuiki Mascon controllers for Nintendo Switch.
Fixed Guide Button Chord Config Issue: Controllers will no longer get stuck in guide button chord config after disconnecting while holding the button.
Fixed Virtual Menu Screen Bug: Resolved an issue where the configurator's virtual menu screen would stop displaying other settings after changing a binding.
Improved Gyro Functionality: Fixed issues with "Gyro to ..." modes when using controllers with high gyroscope polling rates.
Enhanced Mode Shifts: Mode Shifts can now be activated using multiple buttons, providing more customization options.
Fixed Steam Controller Haptic Bug: Resolved an issue where Steam Controllers would receive random haptic events when playing No Man’s Sky.
How to Access the Beta Update
To try out these fixes and improvements, the update is available through the Preview/Beta channel. To enable beta updates on your Steam Deck:
Go to Settings > System
Under Beta Participation, select Preview/Beta
Restart your Steam Deck to apply the update
