Steam Deck Beta Update: February 19th Fixes Key Issues

Valve has just released a new Steam Deck Beta Client update for users in the Preview/Beta channel. This latest update focuses on improving the user experience by addressing some critical issues related to store navigation and Steam Input functionality.

General Fix: Store Page Navigation Issue

One of the most noticeable fixes in this update is the correction of a store page redirection issue. Previously, users attempting to visit the full game’s store page were sometimes directed to the demo’s store page instead. This caused confusion for players looking to purchase or learn more about the full version of a game. With this update, Valve has ensured that users will now be correctly routed to the intended store page.

Steam Input Fix: Gamepad Slot Issue Resolved

Another key fix in this update addresses a bug related to external gamepads. Some users experienced a problem where, after disconnecting an external controller, the Steam Deck’s built-in controller would remain stuck in a non-primary slot. This could interfere with gameplay, requiring workarounds or device restarts. The latest beta update ensures that once an external gamepad is disconnected, the Steam Deck’s built-in controller correctly reassumes its primary role.

How to Access the Beta Update

For those eager to test these fixes, the update is available through the Preview/Beta channel. To enable beta updates on your Steam Deck:

  1. Go to Settings > System

  2. Under Beta Participation, select Preview/Beta

  3. Restart your Steam Deck to apply the update

Looking Ahead

As Valve continues refining the Steam Deck experience, updates like this demonstrate their commitment to resolving user-reported issues. Steam Deck users can expect more improvements in future updates as Valve enhances functionality and stability across the platform.
