Steam Deck Beta Client Update: January 27, 2025
Valve has rolled out a new Steam Deck Beta Client update for users in the Preview/Beta channel, addressing various stability and usability issues.
One of the notable changes is an improvement to Steam’s reconnection behavior. When resuming from suspend or reconnecting to Steam, in-game notifications will no longer pop up for friends who are already in a game, reducing unnecessary distractions. Additionally, an error that previously caused issues when receiving voice chat invites has been resolved.
For those using Desktop Mode, Valve has fixed a problem where the Backup Game Files dialog would sometimes fail to complete. This should make managing game backups smoother and more reliable.
On the Steam Input side, this update fixes an issue affecting fightsticks and other controllers without left or right analog stick axes. The L3/R3 buttons should now function properly on these devices, improving compatibility and usability.
This update was briefly re-released to correct a regression that affected the on-screen keyboard in Desktop Mode. Users should now experience a more stable and functional input system.
For those testing Steam Deck updates in the Beta channel, this update brings quality-of-life improvements that enhance overall system performance and reliability. Stay tuned for more updates as Valve continues refining the Steam Deck experience.
